Sadio Mané has officially announced his retirement from international football, ending an outstanding career with the Senegal national team that spanned more than a decade.

The 34-year-old forward confirmed his decision shortly after Senegal’s journey at the 2026 FIFA World Cup came to an end following a dramatic extra-time defeat to Belgium in the Round of 32.

His announcement marks the conclusion of one of the most successful international careers in the country’s football history.

Since making his debut in 2012, Mané established himself as a key figure for the Lions of Teranga, earning 130 international appearances and becoming one of Senegal’s most influential players.

His greatest achievement came in 2021 when he inspired the team to its first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title, cementing his legacy as one of the nation’s all-time football icons.

In his farewell message, the former captain expressed gratitude to supporters, saying their unwavering encouragement motivated him throughout his years representing Senegal.

He also reflected on his commitment to the national team, emphasizing that he always gave everything whenever he wore the country’s colours.

Although stepping away from international football, Mané made it clear that he is not leaving the sport entirely.

The Al-Nassr forward revealed his desire to continue serving Senegalese football in another capacity, whether through coaching, technical development or football administration.

At club level, Mané remains committed to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, where he is expected to continue playing.

Before moving to Saudi Arabia, he enjoyed trophy-filled spells with Liverpool and Bayern Munich, winning major domestic and European honours, including the UEFA Champions League, Premier League and Bundesliga.

His retirement from international football closes a remarkable chapter while leaving behind a legacy that will inspire future generations of Senegalese footballers.
