Rangers have been eliminated from the Europa League after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Jagiellonia Bialystok at Ibrox.

The Scottish club entered the second leg needing to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the opening encounter, but they were unable to produce the comeback required to advance to the next stage.

Rangers made a promising start and created pressure during the opening period. Their efforts were rewarded when Lawrence Shankland converted from the penalty spot to put the hosts ahead on the night and level the contest temporarily on aggregate.

However, the momentum shifted after the interval. Rangers manager Derek McInnes made several substitutions as he attempted to strengthen his team, but the changes failed to have the desired impact.

Jagiellonia eventually found the breakthrough they needed when Nik Prelec rose above the Rangers defence to head a cross into the net.

The goal restored the Polish side’s aggregate advantage and left the hosts facing another difficult European exit.

Rangers pushed forward in search of a late equaliser on the night and came close when Bojan Miovski received an opportunity inside the box. His header, however, went wide from close range.

The result means McInnes remains without a victory in his first four matches as Rangers manager. The reaction from the home supporters reflected their frustration, with the team booed at the final whistle.

Rangers must now regroup quickly, as a victory over Jablonec will be necessary to continue their European campaign in the Conference League.
