Nollywood actress Judy Austin has filed a N1 billion defamation lawsuit against her husband Yul Edochie’s aunt, veteran actress Rita Edochie.

The actress shared the suit on her Instagram page. The suit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, accuses Rita of making defamatory statements against her.

According to the writ of summons, Judy is seeking N1 billion in general damages for defamation, an order compelling Rita to publish a full retraction and apology in at least two national newspapers, and a perpetual injunction restraining her from further publishing defamatory statements against the claimant.

Additionally, the wife of Yul Edochie is also demanding N50 million as the cost of prosecuting the suit.

The legal action comes amid the ongoing public feud between Judy and Rita, who has consistently criticized her nephew’s second wife since Yul left his first wife, May Edochie, for Judy in 2022.

Rita has previously accused Judy of “snatching” Yul from his legal wife and has made it clear that Judy is not recognized as part of the Edochie family.
