An Osun State House of Assembly member, Hon. Kanmi Ajibola has given the Senator representing Osun East District at the National Assembly, Francis Fadahunsi 30 days to quit his position as a lawmaker over his directive to his supporters to kill members of Accord party in Ilesa.

Although, Senator Fadahunsi had claimed he was quoted out of content, Ajibola, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ilesa Branch said refusal by Senator Fadahunsi popularly called “Fada” to resign from office will be met by legal action.

In a letter signed by Ajibola’s counsel, Ekene Amadi, titled “Resign now, you have a killer’s mind and lacking strength of character for public office representation” and sent to Senator Fadahunsi, the Osun lawmaker stated since October last year, the National Assembly member had been threatening to deal with members of the opposition party in the state.

In the letter copied to President Ahmed Tinubu and the Senate President, Senator Godwill Akpabio, Ajibola disclosed that both himself and Fadahunsi are from the same constituency and belonged to the same party Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) before they parted way with Fadahunsi defecting to All Progressive Congress (APC) while he left for the Accord Party.

While noting that Fadahunsi is still enjoying his 2ndterm in office, himself and other members of PDP, majority of who are now in Accord Party financially, electorally and energetically worked for his electoral victory in 2019 and 2023.

But “as far back as October 2025, you had been threatening that, at the close of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, you would be causing the arrest and killing of the members of the accord on trumped-up complaints.

“Playing through this script, the governorship election in Osun is slated for 15th day of August 2026, between the 1st of June to 10th of August 2026, several accord members are being unlawfully arrested and detained while some have been killed.

“Making good on the threat, on the 11th day of August 2026 in Ilesa, within your Senatorial District, four days to the governorship election, in the full glare of public attention, you instructed and directed your political thugs and supporters to go and be killing the innocent citizens of Osun State, particularly the Accord Party members, because of election.

“This conduct is utterly satanic and extremely diabolical of a senator standing. Your conduct has completely negated your oath of office as the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Take Notice that, you are not fit and proper to continue as the senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing the people of the Osun East Senatorial District.

“Subsequent upon this, the following demand are immediately made:

“You are to resign from the Senate as the senator representing the people of the Osun East Senatorial District within thirty [30] days of the receipt of this letter.

“For having a killer’s mind and lacking strength of character for public office representation, you are to disqualify yourself from future public service.

The letter according to Ajibola’s solicitor served as a pre-action and that failure to meet these demands within the given time, “you shall face the full rigour of law and a legal action shall be taken against you”.
