By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Veteran singer John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has opened up about how Senate President Godswill Akpabio stood by him after a car crash that left him unable to walk for years.

Speaking on The Podcast Network, the Galala crooner said the accident damaged his spine and kept him off his feet for about three years.

He recalled that the crash occurred before the assassination attempts he later faced. According to him, Akpabio was the first person to come to his rescue.

He credited the Senate President for helping him access medical care and playing a crucial role in his recovery.

The veteran artiste further described Akpabio as a true friend he has known for decades, long before he became a commissioner.

He said:
“My spine failed. I could not walk for 3 years. I had a car accident. It was before the assassination attempts. When I had that car accident, the person who first came to my rescue was Godswill Akpabio.”

“He helped me to go to the hospital, and I was in hospital for 3 years. He played a lot of roles. I knew him before he became a commissioner, and he is a true friend. When that thing happened to me, if not for Godswill Akpabio, I would not have walked again.”
