Russia NPP Chairman endorses Obaa Yaa for first vice chairperson position

MON, 24 AUG 2026

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman in Russia, Dr. Ajene Mashood Abongo, has officially declared his support for Obaa Yaa in her bid to become the party’s National First Vice Chairperson.

Dr. Abongo’s endorsement adds to the growing support for Obaa Yaa as the NPP prepares for its internal elections to select national executives.

In declaring his support, the NPP Russia Chairman expressed confidence in Obaa Yaa’s leadership abilities, experience and commitment to the party, describing her as a candidate capable of contributing meaningfully to the party’s growth and organisational development.

His endorsement is expected to strengthen Obaa Yaa’s campaign, particularly among party members and supporters who value the views of NPP executives and grassroots organisers in the diaspora.

The National First Vice Chairperson position is a key leadership role within the NPP, with the office-holder expected to play an important role in supporting the National Chairman and contributing to the party’s strategic direction and mobilisation efforts.

Obaa Yaa’s campaign has therefore been seeking support from party members across Ghana and the diaspora as she makes her case for the position.

Dr. Abongo’s declaration signals support from the NPP’s Russia branch and further highlights the interest of diaspora party executives in the upcoming national leadership contest.

The endorsement is likely to add momentum to Obaa Yaa’s campaign as the contest for the NPP’s national executive positions gathers pace.
