Popular Singer, St Janet Dies After Brief Illness
Popular Nigerian lewd lyrics singer, Iyun Janet Ajilore popularly known as St Janet, has died after a brief illness.
The singer reportedly passed away on Saturday, according to a statement announcing her death.
A memorial poster shared by associates described her passing as a significant loss to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of St. Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore), who departed this world after a brief illness,” the statement read.
It added, “Her music, talent, and unique voice touched many lives and left an unforgettable mark in Nigerian entertainment. May her soul rest in perfect peace. Forever remembered. Forever cherished.’’
The news has since sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues, fans and admirers, many of whom took to social media to pay tribute to the late artiste.
Among those who mourned her was fellow singer Alayo Melody, who reflected on the uncertainty of life in an emotional message.
“We live today and tomorrow we die! 😭😭 St Janet, May God grant you eternal rest 🙏,” the singer wrote.
Also, a publisher and socialite, Otunba Femi Davies, announced the news early on Sunday with a post on his social media handles.
According to Davies, St Janet died during a brief illness.
He wrote: “St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore) a popular Nigerian Juju and highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence, and socially unfiltered party tracks is dead.
“She died after a brief illness on Saturday.”
St Janet built a reputation as one of the notable voices in Nigeria’s juju and highlife music scene, earning a loyal following through her lively performances and distinctive style.
Details of her funeral arrangements had yet to be announced as of the time of filing this report.
