President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, received the President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN), during a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Badejo-Okusanya was accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Caleb University, Professor Foluke Dada Lawanson; the President of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Mrs. Ezinwa Okoroafor; the FCT Lead of the NBA Women Forum, Princess Hadiza Afegbua; and the BBold Campaign Team Publicity Lead, Mrs. Ramlat Ridhwan.

The visit comes days after Badejo-Okusanya emerged as the President-elect of the NBA following the association’s national election.

Chairman of the NBA Electoral Committee, Aham Ejelam (SAN), who announced the results at the association’s National Secretariat in Abuja, said Badejo-Okusanya secured 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 per cent of the total ballots cast.

She defeated her closest rival, Lateef Akangbe (SAN), who garnered 7,934 votes, or 30.39 per cent, while the third candidate, Olumuyiwa Akinboro (SAN), polled 5,855 votes, representing 22.43 per cent.

According to the Electoral Committee, a total of 26,106 valid votes were cast in the election.

Badejo-Okusanya’s victory makes her the incoming leader of Nigeria’s foremost association of legal practitioners. She makes history as the first elected NBA president.
