According to intelligence and security sources, Mai Rasha was a high-profile kingpin responsible for orchestrating numerous deadly attacks, mass kidnappings, and violent crimes across the Tsafe Local Government Area of neighboring Zamfara State and its surrounding communities. His presence as a senior commander in the failed raid on Guga underscores the cross-border coordination among these criminal syndicates. His elimination, alongside dozens of his foot soldiers, is expected to severely disrupt the operational capabilities of the terror networks plaguing the Northwest zone.

Intelligence sources revealed that the coordinated attack began around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, 26 July 2026, when over 200 heavily armed bandits invaded the community . The massive assault was launched at the direct directive of a notorious bandit kingpin, Idi Abasu Aiki, who mobilized fighters from various criminal networks operating across Katsina and neighbouring Zamfara State. The terrorists descended on the village with heavy firepower, aiming to overwhelm the local population as part of their ongoing campaign of violence and terror in the Northwest region.

The attackers, however, encountered stiff resistance from a highly coordinated, combined security team that was rapidly deployed to defend the area. Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade, personnel of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and courageous local hunters fiercely engaged the invaders in a prolonged gun battle. This joint tactical response effectively thwarted the criminal syndicate’s invasion, inflicting heavy casualties on the bandits and forcing the survivors to retreat.
