Nigerian Winger Zadok Yohanna Makes Premier League Debut for Brighton

By Okiki Oluwasegun

Brighton winger Zadok Yohanna marked his Premier League debut with a memorable appearance as the Seagulls swept aside Aston Villa 4-0 at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.

The young Nigerian began the encounter among the substitutes but was introduced in the 78th minute, replacing Mats Wieffer as Brighton comfortably saw out the match.

The appearance represents an important step in Yohanna’s development as he begins to establish himself within Fabian Hürzeler’s squad.

Brighton had already taken control of the contest before Yohanna entered the pitch, with an own goal from Victor Lindelöf giving the hosts the advantage.

Maxim De Cuyper then added another goal before Jack Hinshelwood completed an impressive individual performance with a brace.

For Yohanna, the outing was his second competitive appearance for Brighton in just a few days.

He had previously featured from the bench during the club’s UEFA Europa Conference League playoff clash against Tromsø last Thursday.

Although his time on the pitch was limited, making his Premier League debut in a convincing home victory will provide the winger with valuable experience and confidence.

The young player will now look to build on the opportunity and push for more regular involvement with the first team.

Brighton will return to action on Thursday when they welcome Tromsø for the second leg of their Conference League playoff tie.

Yohanna will be hoping to earn further minutes as he continues his progress with the English club.
