The Norwegian striker has ditched his trademark long blonde hair for a much shorter style, revealing the new look on social media moments before City’s league opener against Bournemouth on Sunday, August 23. He shared photos of his new haircut on his Instagram page.

Haaland’s long hair has become part of his identity. He has often tied it back during matches, with fans joking about his dramatic celebrations and the look becoming closely associated with the powerful striker.

The sudden change has sparked plenty of reactions online. While some fans joked that Haaland may have lost his “lucky charm” and could struggle to score, others believe the new haircut signals fresh energy ahead of the new campaign.

The timing is also interesting as City begin a new era under head coach Enzo Maresca following Pep Guardiola’s departure. Maresca’s first competitive match ended in a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield last weekend, although Haaland did not play in that match.

City now face Bournemouth in Maresca’s first Premier League match in charge. Haaland will be expected to lead the attack as City look to begin the campaign with a win.
