Liverpool reach agreement in principle with PSG for 120m Bradley Barcola transfer

Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign forward Bradley Barcola.

The clubs agreed terms of the proposed deal overnight for a package around £120million (€140m) overall, of which over £100m is guaranteed.

Negotiations are being handled by sporting director Richard Hughes and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon, and important last details are being ironed out on Thursday morning.

Nothing has been signed yet, and the deal is yet to be completed, but a potential transfer could have knock-on effects for Cody Gakpo, who has been repeatedly linked to Tottenham Hotspur and has been the subject of interest from Manchester City this summer.

The Athletic reported that Liverpool and PSG held key talks on Tuesday to bring clarity over the proposed transfer, with Barcola being committed to joining the Merseyside club.

The 23-year-old emerged as Liverpool’s primary target to replace Mohamed Salah earlier this summer, and The Athletic reported on July 29 that the club were preparing an opening bid for him.

Barcola has two years remaining on his contract with PSG, but had made it clear he does not want to extend his terms with the European champions and was left out of the matchday squad for their Ligue 1-opening 2-2 draw against Rennes on Sunday.

Playing predominantly from the left wing but also able to operate on the opposite flank, the France international was in direct competition with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue for minutes last term. He was largely utilised from the bench in the latter stages of the French side’s Champions League run, as Luis Enrique’s side won the competition in successive years.

Despite his competition for minutes, Barcola made 49 appearances for PSG in the 2025-26 campaign, contributing 13 goals and seven assists as they retained the Ligue 1 title alongside European success. Since breaking into the first team during the 2021-22 season, Barcola has recorded 39 goals and 37 assists in 152 appearances.

The Lyon academy product played a prominent role for France at this summer’s World Cup, appearing in all eight matches and scoring three goals.
