National Communications Director aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gordon Asare‑Bediako, has withdrawn from the race and declared his full support for Dennis Miracles Aboagye.

Mr Asare‑Bediako announced his decision in a Facebook post on Sunday, August 23, 2026, stating that the move followed extensive consultations with family, friends and key stakeholders within the party.

He said the decision was guided by what he believes is in the best interest of the NPP at a “defining moment” in its political journey.

“After deep reflection, wide consultation with family, friends, and stakeholders across our great party, and prayerful consideration of what is best for the New Patriotic Party at this defining moment, I have decided to withdraw my candidature for the position of National Communications Director,” he wrote.

Mr Asare‑Bediako noted that his ambition to lead the party’s communications machinery was driven by a desire to help rebuild and reposition the NPP for victory, but stressed that unity must take precedence.

“That desire has not diminished, but I have come to the firm conviction that our party’s interest is best served by unity of purpose, not a division of energies,” he said.

He subsequently threw his “full and unreserved support” behind Dennis Miracles Aboagye, urging his supporters and delegates who backed his bid to rally behind the former spokesperson and Communications Director of the 2024 Bawumia Presidential Campaign.

Mr Asare‑Bediako described Mr Aboagye as “battle‑tested,” praising his communication skills, strategic depth and experience in frontline advocacy for the NPP.

“I have no doubt that under his leadership, the NPP’s communication front will be sharper, louder, and more effective than ever before,” he added.

He encouraged delegates who had supported him to transfer their support to Mr Aboagye, emphasizing that the party’s broader objective must outweigh individual ambitions.

“Our mission is bigger than any individual ambition: it is the retrieval of power for the New Patriotic Party and the restoration of hope for the good people of Ghana,” he said.

Mr Asare‑Bediako reaffirmed his commitment to the NPP, pledging to continue serving the party in any capacity he is called upon to undertake.
