Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei Oppong has joined Spanish giants Real Madrid on a three-year contract from Granada.

The 21-year-old centre-back moves to the Spanish champions in a deal reportedly worth about €2m after completing his medical.

Naasei will initially link up with Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s reserve side, where he is expected to continue his development and adapt to the demands of one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Real Madrid moved to secure the highly-rated defender after he attracted interest from several clubs, with an agreement eventually reached with Granada.

Naasei joined Granada in 2023 and progressed through the club’s youth system before making the step up to the senior team.

He has made two appearances for Granada in the Segunda Division this season, continuing his emergence as one of the club’s promising young defenders.

The Accra-born player can operate at both centre-back and right-back, a versatility that has added to his growing reputation.

Naasei also made his senior Ghana debut in May when he featured in the Black Stars’ friendly against Mexico.

His move to Real Madrid marks a significant step in his career and allows him to develop within the club’s renowned youth structure.

The defender will now aim to establish himself at Castilla and eventually earn a chance to represent Real Madrid’s first team.
