Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has expressed his excitement following the arrival of England international Morgan Rogers, saying he is eager to reunite with one of his closest friends on the pitch this season.

The pair developed a strong friendship during their time together in Manchester City’s academy and later represented England at youth level.

Now, they are set to play alongside each other once again after Rogers completed his move from Aston Villa to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking during Chelsea’s pre-season tour of Australia, Palmer admitted he was delighted when he learned of the club’s interest in Rogers.

He revealed that he regularly encouraged his friend to make the switch to west London and was thrilled when the transfer was finally completed.

Palmer also disclosed that Rogers informed him about the move before it became public knowledge. Although the news excited both players, they agreed to keep the deal private until Chelsea officially confirmed the transfer.

He described Rogers as a physically strong player who enjoys driving forward with the ball, while highlighting his own preference for creating opportunities through intelligent passing and movement between the lines.

The 24-year-old is confident their previous understanding on the pitch will help them settle quickly as teammates under Chelsea’s new manager, Xabi Alonso.

Palmer also joked about Rogers using his famous “ice cold” goal celebration, laughing that the pair may end up performing it together if they both find the back of the net.
