Bournemouth have been dealt a significant setback ahead of the new Premier League season after forward Eli Junior Kroupi underwent surgery on a foot injury that is expected to keep him out of action for up to four months.

The 20-year-old sustained the injury during the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria and returned to England for further medical assessment.

Following specialist examinations, surgery was deemed necessary, with the youngster now beginning a lengthy rehabilitation process.

The injury comes as a major blow for Bournemouth, particularly after Kroupi emerged as one of the team’s standout performers last season.

In his first Premier League campaign, the French attacker finished as the club’s leading scorer with 13 league goals, playing a crucial role in Bournemouth’s impressive sixth-place finish and qualification for the UEFA Europa League.

His impressive performances also attracted attention from several top European clubs during the summer transfer window.

Despite growing interest, Bournemouth remained determined to keep the highly rated forward as they prepare for another demanding campaign under new manager Marco Rose.

To strengthen their attacking options, the club recently completed the signing of striker Álvaro Rodríguez, a move that could now prove even more important following Kroupi’s injury.
