Atiku Abubakar declares the ADC as the only real opposition to defeat ruling APC in Nigeria

The political landscape in Nigeria is shifting as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar throws his weight behind the African Democratic Congress, labeling it the nation’s primary opposition powerhouse. In a move that signals a hardening of battle lines for the next general election, Atiku described the party as a formidable force built on solid ideals and a robust structure designed to dismantle the current administration.
While hosting ADC stakeholders from Adamawa at his Abuja residence, the former Vice President emphasized that the party has successfully positioned itself as the true alternative for citizens tired of the status quo. He urged the new leadership to prioritize internal unity and fair governance, suggesting that a cohesive front is the only way to challenge the All Progressives Congress effectively.
This endorsement comes at a time of escalating verbal warfare between the opposition and the presidency. Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, recently sharpened the party’s rhetoric by claiming that Nigerians are increasingly eager to vote President Bola Tinubu out of office. Abdullahi argued that the current economic policies have devastated livelihoods, leaving a trail of frustration across the country.
President Tinubu remains publicly unbothered by these developments. During a recent event at the State House, the President dismissed the growing opposition movement, stating he is not intimidated by those attempting to “scare him off.” However, with Atiku now framing the ADC as the central pillar of the resistance, the path to the 2027 elections appears increasingly volatile and unpredictable.
