Aston Villa have intensified their pursuit of Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, with negotiations reportedly progressing over a potential move worth up to £65m.

Villa have maintained an interest in the Senegal international for some time and are now seeking to reach an agreement with Chelsea over their valuation of the striker.

The Premier League club are understood to have submitted a proposal worth around £60m, including performance-related bonuses, bringing them close to Chelsea’s £65m asking price.

Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of accepting the offer, which could pave the way for Jackson to leave Stamford Bridge and continue his career at Villa Park.

Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal and has since featured prominently for the London club, although his time at Stamford Bridge has been affected by competition for places and inconsistent form.

His pace, physical strength and ability to operate across the frontline have nevertheless made him an attractive option for Villa.

For Aston Villa, securing the 25-year-old would provide manager Unai Emery with another attacking option as the club prepares for another demanding Premier League campaign alongside European football.

The final details of the agreement, particularly the structure of the bonuses and payment terms, still need to be resolved.

However, with Chelsea apparently prepared to accept a package close to their valuation, Jackson’s move to Villa appears increasingly likely.
