The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support following the death of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.

In a joint statement on Instagram on Tuesday, signed by its Global President, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin, the association acknowledged the outpouring of love and prayers during the difficult period.

TAMPAN appreciated the messages, calls, visits, and words of comfort that have been a source of strength to the family and the entire association. The statement also prayed for God’s blessings and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The statement read:
“On behalf of the TAMPAN GLOBAL FAMILY, I sincerely appreciate everyone who stood with us, reached out, prayed with us, and commiserated with us during this difficult period following the passing of our dear Alhaji Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo). Your messages, calls, visits, prayers, and words of comfort have been a great source of strength to us and the entire TAMPAN family. We are deeply grateful for your love, support, and solidarity. May God Almighty bless you all, strengthen you, and grant us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

Refreshing your memory, The Nigerian Voice recalls that Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, had made an emotional appeal on Instagram last Monday, seeking help for their father’s treatment after he was diagnosed with stage-four cancer.

They had revealed that hospitals had refused to treat him and begged for anyone who could provide medical or spiritual assistance. His close friend and colleague,

Yinka Quadri, had also been deeply affected by his illness, staying in constant contact with the family and offering support.

‘Ogogo’ passed away on Sunday at 3:00 pm at the age of 66, according to a statement issued by his colleague, Jide Kosoko. He was buried on Monday in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, following Islamic rites.

His death has since sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with colleagues and fans paying tribute to the veteran actor.
