Pakistan Day in Michigan-Sunday, August 16, 2026:
DETROIT, MICHIGAN — The American Pakistani Community Alliance (APCA) invites the community to a vibrant celebration of Pakistan Independence Day – MELA 2026 on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM at Wayne County Community College District, Northwest Campus. This day‑long festival honors Pakistan’s rich history, culture, and traditions.

APCA welcomes Pakistani Americans and friends from every ethnic, cultural, and religious background to join in a spirit of unity, friendship, and mutual respect. The celebration is open to all, and admission is free.

The festival will be a joyful expression of pride and cultural connection — an opportunity to experience Pakistan’s music, food, art, performances, and traditions. It is a moment to learn from one another, celebrate one another, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as Americans. A major highlight of the program is a special appearance and live performance by legendary international singer Hasan Jahangir.

Families from across Michigan — Pakistani, Arab, African American, Indian, Bangladeshi, Hispanic, Asian, European, and many others — are encouraged to attend, experience Pakistani hospitality, and stand together for a stronger, more united America.

For younger Pakistani Americans, the celebration offers a meaningful connection to heritage, language, music, and tradition. For the broader community, it is an opportunity to discover the richness of Pakistani culture, meet new people, and build lasting friendships. One America. Many Heritages. One Community.

America’s greatest strength is its people — individuals from different nations, cultures, and faiths who come together under shared values of freedom, opportunity, respect, and community.
