The 24 African Women Ready to Tell Their Stories at Miss World 2026
From youth empowerment and diplomacy to healthcare, entrepreneurship, beauty and advocacy, these 21 African women are bringing more than pageantry to the global stage.
Africa is showing up at Miss World with more than beautiful gowns, polished appearances and the pressure of competition.
Across the continent, 21 women are carrying their countries’ flags to the 73rd Miss World 2026 in Vietnam, each arriving with a story, a cause and ambitions that extend far beyond the crown.
Among them is Ghana’s Rumzia Sule, who is hoping to use the global platform to inspire young people while representing Ghana on one of the world’s biggest pageant stages.

Meet Ghana’s Rumzia Sule
Rumzia Sule earned the opportunity to represent Ghana at Miss World after emerging as Miss Ghana 2026 at the national final held in Accra on July 19.
Thirteen finalists competed for the crown, with Beauty With a Purpose at the heart of the competition. Representing the North East Region, Sule ultimately took the title.
Her message after winning was centred on using her new platform to encourage young people to believe in themselves.
This is an opportunity and a platform to inspire and encourage young people to believe in themselves, to live in kindness and confidence, the new Miss Ghana said.
Sule studied Public Relations and Image Management and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy.
Beyond the pageant, she is passionate about youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and leadership. Through her Project Inspire Ghana initiative, she mentors young people and encourages entrepreneurship.
She has also expressed an ambition to become an ambassador, combining her interests in diplomacy, advocacy and international leadership to make an impact.
Her personal motto captures the spirit she hopes to take to the global stage: “The best and easiest way to learn is to learn from each other.”
Sule will represent Ghana at the 75th Anniversary Edition of Miss World in Vietnam, where she will join contestants from around the world. But she is not the only African woman carrying a national flag into the competition.
The 20 other African women to watch
From Nigeria to South Africa, Zambia to Senegal, the African contestants bring different professions, interests, causes and ambitions to the Miss World stage.
2. Nigeria – Soye Karibi-George

Miss Nigeria – Soye Karibi-George
Nigeria’s representative is a communications professional, voice-over artist, and professional model from Nigeria with a passion for storytelling and meaningful impact.
Karibi-George is committed to empowering others, amplifying underrepresented voices, and building a world where everyone is seen, heard, and valued. Her personal motto is “Embrace your story, trust your process and be your authentic self.”

3. Uganda – Trivia Elle Muhoza

Miss Uganda – Trivia Elle Muhoza
Muhoza is an entrepreneur with a background in aviation who runs her own cosmetics and skincare brand.
She hopes to expand her business while supporting children in vulnerable homes and raising awareness about gender-based violence. Her motto is: “From strength I learned, with kindness I lead.”
4. Côte d’Ivoire – Fatima Kone

Miss Côte d’Ivoire – Fatima Kone
Kone is a student, entrepreneur and model passionate about youth empowerment and personal development. With plans to establish a startup incubator for young entrepreneurs, she hopes to create opportunities for others while continuing her modelling career. Her Motto: “We are our only limit.”

5. Tanzania – Latricia Ian Sawe

Miss Tanzania – Latricia Ian Sawe
Sawe is a model, brand ambassador and social advocate pursuing a degree in Banking and Finance. Her advocacy focuses on inclusive education and autism awareness, with the goal of supporting children with special needs and their families. Her Motto: “My purpose is simple, to help people feel less alone.”
6. Zambia – Dr Adah Mushibi

Miss Zambia – Dr Adah Mushibi
A medical doctor and volunteer at the University Teaching Hospital, Mushibi is also a Chinese-language interpreter.
She hopes to become a surgeon and advocate for inclusive healthcare, particularly for people living with disabilities. Motto: “Always be your most authentic self, no matter what space you are in.”
7. Zimbabwe – Brunette Makanyiso

Miss Zimbabwe – Brunette Makanyiso
Zimbabwe’s representative is among the African women carrying her country’s hopes to the Miss World stage.
8. South Africa – Romanda Hombir

Hombir represents South Africa at the global competition, joining the continent’s diverse group of contestants.
9. Sierra Leone – Maryam Lorba Konneh

Konneh is representing Sierra Leone as part of the African contingent at Miss World 2026.
10. Senegal – Fatoumata Diop

Miss Senegal – Fatoumata Diop
Diop is a marketing strategist, writer and storyteller with a strong interest in mental health advocacy.
Having published her first book at 22, she hopes to build a global organisation focused on improving mental health support across Africa. Motto: “The light is within yourself.”
11. Namibia – Elly Aron

Miss Namibia – Elly Aron
Aron is pursuing a degree in Software Development and has ambitions to further her studies in Data Analytics while exploring Psychology. Her interests include technology, public speaking, fashion, wellness and spoken-word poetry.
She hopes to become a remote software engineer and create technology-driven solutions that make a positive impact. Motto: “Insight fuels informed futures.”

12. Malawi – Ireen Navicha

Miss Malawi – Ireen Navicha
Navicha is representing Malawi among the African contestants competing at Miss World 2026. Ireen is a community advocate, model, and student who is passionate about empowering young people through education and leadership. Personal Motto: I am capable!
13. Mozambique – Arcenia Quehá

Miss Mozambique – Arcenia Quehá
Quehá carries Mozambique’s flag into the competition as part of the continent’s representation at Miss World.
14. Morocco – Chirihan Chergui

Miss Morocco – Chirihan Chergui
Chergui is representing Morocco at the global pageant, adding North African representation to the continent’s strong presence this year.
Chirihan is a technology entrepreneur with a master’s degree in Software Engineering and a passion for innovation, culture, and social impact. Personal Motto: “No dream too big, no nation too small, and no limit too high.”
15. Ethiopia – Ruth Yirgalem Weldesilassie

Weldesilassie represents Ethiopia among the African contestants competing for the Miss World crown.

Tewoldemedhin is representing Eritrea on the Miss World stage.
17. Somalia – Foziya Abdullahi Garad

Garad is carrying Somalia’s representation into this year’s global competition. Foziya is an aspiring pilot and dedicated student passionate about aviation and empowering youth. Bol represents South Sudan among the African women competing at Miss World. Nyandeng is a Medical Sales professional from South Sudan with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Communication Studies. Personal Motto: “The spirit makes the master.”

Miss Botswana – Ruth Thomas
Thomas is representing Botswana as part of the continent’s 21-member contingent. Ruth is a Beauty Advisor from Botswana with a passion for empowering others through confidence and self-expression. Personal Motto: “Beauty exists in all of us, we just need to find it.”
20. Cameroon – Raissa Noura Njikam

Miss Cameroon – Raissa Noura Njikam
Njikam completes the African representation, carrying Cameroon’s flag into the 73rd Miss World 2026. Raissa is an entrepreneur and humanitarian. Born and raised in Yaoundé, she is the founder and president of the NOUNJI Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting women and young people affected by violence
Personal Motto: “Work, discipline, difference.”
21. Guinea – Saran Keita

Saran Keita is representing Guinea at the 73rd Miss World 2026. She is a cultural and event entrepreneur with a degree in International Relations, passionate about Guinean culture, humanitarian work and women’s advocacy.
She hopes to enter politics and inspire future generations. Motto: “Hard work, perseverance and courage are the keys.”
22. Guinea-Bissau – Hernania Nantote

Miss Guinea-Bissau – Hernania Nantote
Hernania Nantote is representing Guinea-Bissau at this year’s Miss World competition.
23. Kenya – Trizah Muhenje Akala

Miss Kenya – Trizah Muhenje Akala
Trizah Muhenje Akala is Kenya’s representative at Miss World 2026. Trizah Akala is a Tourism Management graduate who works in marketing and event management while advocating for education, women’s empowerment and child welfare.
She also promotes African culture through dance and storytelling. Motto: “Her voice, her purpose, her impact.”
24. Mauritius – Shreeya Bokhoree

Shreeya Bokhoree, representing Mauritius in this year’s Miss World Competition
Shreeya Bokhoree is representing Mauritius at the 73rd Miss World. Shreeya Bokhoree is a Project Lead and Marketing Executive at the Chartreuse Group of Companies, where she combines creativity and strategic thinking to promote innovation in agriculture.
Her ambition is to help revolutionise Mauritius’ tea industry by taking its heritage and quality to the global stage while creating sustainable opportunities for her community.
More than a crown
For the 21 African contestants, the Miss World stage offers an opportunity to introduce their countries and personal stories to a global audience.
Their backgrounds are remarkably different. Some are students, while others are entrepreneurs, models, medical professionals, communicators and advocates.
And their causes are just as varied — from youth empowerment and entrepreneurship to healthcare, disability inclusion, mental health and gender-based violence.
For Ghana, the spotlight will be firmly on Rumzia Sule, who arrives in Vietnam not only as Miss Ghana 2026 but as a young Ghanaian woman hoping to use the platform to inspire others.
The crown may ultimately go to one woman, but with 21 African countries represented, the continent already has a strong presence to celebrate.
