2026/27 CAF Champions League: Medeama to face TP Mazembe in preliminary round
Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have been drawn against DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.
The draw, conducted at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo on Thursday, handed the Ghanaian champions a difficult opening test against one of the continent’s most successful clubs.
Medeama will host the first leg at the TNA Stadium before travelling to Kinshasa for the return fixture as they seek a place in the next stage of the competition.
Should the Tarkwa-based club progress, they will face either Tunisian side Club Africain or Mali’s Djoliba AC in the second preliminary round.
CAF has scheduled the first-leg matches of the opening preliminary round for 4–6 September, with the return legs set to take place between 11 and 13 September.
The second preliminary round will then be played over two legs, with the first fixtures scheduled for 14–16 September and the return matches taking place from 23–25 September.
Medeama will be aiming to build on their previous appearances in the CAF Champions League as they look to secure a place in the lucrative group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
