Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is set to return to competitive football after reaching a resolution in his long-running anti-doping case, bringing an end to nearly two years away from the game.

The Ukrainian international has been cleared to resume playing immediately following an agreement with the Football Association over disciplinary proceedings linked to a failed drugs test.

His return marks a major turning point after an extended absence that threatened to derail his promising career.

Mudryk had been sidelined since late 2024 after an out-of-competition test detected a prohibited substance.

Although he initially received a lengthy suspension, he challenged the ruling, and the case eventually reached a settlement that allows him to return to action with the time already served considered sufficient.

In a statement following the decision, the 25-year-old expressed relief at being able to continue his career, maintaining that he had never deliberately taken any banned substance.

He also thanked Chelsea for standing by him throughout the legal process and supporting him during what he described as one of the most difficult periods of his life.

Chelsea welcomed the outcome, confirming that Mudryk will now rejoin the squad as they continue preparations for the new season.

The club said it looks forward to helping the winger regain full match fitness after his prolonged absence.

During his suspension, Mudryk reportedly trained independently to maintain his physical condition, using private facilities and coaches while remaining unable to work with Chelsea’s first-team staff.

His immediate focus will now be earning a place back in the squad and rediscovering the form that convinced Chelsea to sign him from Shakhtar Donetsk.
