The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the Chief Executive Officer of Blackrock Apartments & Suites Limited, Aminu Datti Ahmed, before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi, Abuja, over the alleged conversion of N15 million mistakenly transferred into his bank account.

Ahmed was arraigned before Justice Muhammad Idris on a one-count charge bordering on dishonest conversion of funds, according to a statement issued by the anti-graft agency.

The EFCC alleged that the N15 million was mistakenly credited to Ahmed’s account with Taj Bank instead of the intended recipient, Braverock Investment Limited, during a property acquisition transaction.

According to the commission, Ahmed became aware of the erroneous transfer but allegedly failed to return the funds and instead converted the money to his personal use.

The charge filed against him stated that he “dishonestly converted to his personal use the sum of N15,000,000, which was mistakenly credited” to his account.

The EFCC said the alleged offence contravened Sections 308 and 309 of the Penal Code Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

When the charge was read to him, Ahmed pleaded not guilty.

Following his plea, EFCC counsel, N.M. Tertsua, urged the court to fix a date for trial and asked that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility pending trial.

However, defence counsel, Isyaku Musa, applied for his client’s bail.

The prosecution did not oppose the bail application.

In his ruling, Justice Idris granted Ahmed bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties.

The court ordered that one of the sureties must be a businessman with a valid business certificate and must swear to an affidavit of means.

Justice Idris subsequently adjourned the case until October 21, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
