The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is continuing efforts to secure a headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League, with Vice President Mark Addo saying the governing body is prioritising the right commercial partnership over a quick deal.

Speaking to journalists after the GFA’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Addo said the association’s marketing department remains in discussions with potential partners to strengthen the league’s financial future.

“Work continues every day in trying to find the right sponsor and the right fit for the Ghana Premier League,” he said.

The Ghana Premier League has been without a headline sponsor, but Addo insisted that commercial activity around the competition has not stalled.

He pointed to ongoing work on media rights and television coverage, saying those initiatives are already delivering financial benefits to clubs competing in the top flight.

“Even though we may not necessarily have a headline sponsor, there is other work that’s going on for you to see the benefits that teams are currently enjoying,” he said.

Addo said the GFA was taking a measured approach to negotiations, arguing that securing a partner capable of delivering long-term value was more important than announcing a deal prematurely.

He described the Ghana Premier League as the association’s “best product” and said any sponsorship agreement must reflect the competition’s status.

“I’m not going to stand here and tell you that we have one tomorrow, but I can tell you for a fact that work continues every day in trying to find the right sponsor and the right fit for the GPL,” he added.

The search for a headline sponsor comes ahead of the start of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, which is scheduled to kick off on 5 September.
