Zaidu Sanusi Celebrates Portuguese Super Cup Triumph With FC Porto

By Okiki Oluwasegun

Nigerian defender Zaidu Sanusi has expressed his delight after helping FC Porto lift the Portuguese Super Cup, marking another significant achievement in his career with the Portuguese giants.

Porto secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Torreense at the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra to begin the new season on a winning note.

The encounter was decided in the opening half when Danish midfielder Victor Froholdt found the back of the net with a well-placed header, giving the Dragons an advantage they successfully defended until the final whistle.

Although Sanusi started the match on the bench, the left-back was introduced in the second half as Porto looked to maintain their slender lead.

His appearance contributed to the team’s defensive stability as they sealed another major domestic trophy.

The triumph further strengthens Porto’s dominance in the competition, extending the club’s record number of Portuguese Super Cup titles to 25. It also adds another medal to Sanusi’s growing collection since he arrived from Santa Clara in 2020.

Following the victory, the Super Eagles defender shared his excitement with supporters through social media, expressing gratitude for being part of one of Portugal’s most successful clubs.

His message reflected both pride in the team’s accomplishment and appreciation for the opportunity to continue writing his own chapter in Porto’s rich history.

Sanusi will now be hoping this success serves as the perfect foundation for the new campaign. After enduring several injury setbacks over the past few seasons, the 28-year-old is aiming to stay fit, regain his best form, and play a more prominent role as Porto chase further domestic honours and compete on the European stage.
