Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri is celebrating his birthday today, dedicating the day to prayers and charity.

In a heartfelt post shared on his Instagram page, he expressed gratitude to Allah for the gift of life and another milestone.

Quadri announced that instead of a conventional celebration, he would spend the morning in prayers, followed by a visit to a charity home to share love with those in need. He also revealed that his birthday prayers would include long life, prosperity, and peace for himself and his family, as well as prayers for Nigeria and the nation’s progress.

The Yoruba actor further remembered his late friend, Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), and his parents, praying for their eternal rest.

He wrote:
“Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘Alamin. Glory be to God Almighty, for He alone makes all things possible. Today, I am +1. I am deeply grateful to Allah for the gift of life, for His protection, His mercy, and for bringing me to yet another beautiful milestone. My prayer is that Allah grants me long life, sound health, peace, prosperity, and a life filled with purpose and impact. Ameen.”

“To my family, friends, fans, colleagues, and all my wonderful well-wishers who wish to celebrate with me, I sincerely appreciate your love, prayers, and goodwill. Rather than a conventional birthday celebration, I have chosen to dedicate today to prayers, charity, and gratitude. I will be at home from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for prayers. Afterwards, I will proceed to a charity home to share love and give back to those in need, before returning home. Anyone who wishes to celebrate with me is warmly welcome to visit me at home after the charity visit. Your presence, prayers, and goodwill will mean more to me than any elaborate celebration.”

Refreshing your memory, The Nigerian Voice recalls that Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo made an emotional appeal on Instagram in August, seeking help for their father’s treatment after he was diagnosed with stage-four cancer.

They had revealed that hospitals had refused to treat him and begged for anyone who could provide medical or spiritual assistance. His close friend and colleague,

Yinka Quadri, had also been deeply affected by his illness, staying in constant contact with the family and offering support.

Unfortunately, ‘Ogogo’ passed away on Sunday, August 23 at 3:00 pm at the age of 66, according to a statement issued by his colleague, Jide Kosoko. He was buried on Monday in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, following Islamic rites.

His death has since sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with colleagues and fans paying tribute to the veteran actor.
