Barcelona put on a ruthless attacking display as they demolished Valencia 5-0 at Mestalla in a one-sided LaLiga round four clash that showcased the visitors’ attacking depth.

The rout was set in motion inside the opening ten minutes, with Lamine Yamal opening the scoring after being teed up by Fermin, before Fermin himself doubled the advantage soon after, this time assisted by Anthony Gordon, sending Barcelona in 2-0 up before the half hour mark.

The Catalans wasted no time extending their lead after the break, with Rodri restoring the three goal cushion within two minutes of the restart.

Raphinha then got in on the act, combining once more with Fermin to make it four, before further goals from Pedri, set up by Dani Olmo, and a second strike from Lamine Yamal, again assisted by Olmo, completed a rout that left Valencia with no answers.

Valencia’s afternoon was compounded by an injury to Eray Cordoba, forcing an early change, as Barcelona rotated freely and still found the net at will.

The visitors dominated proceedings almost entirely, racking up an expected goals figure above four compared to Valencia’s tally of under one, while also enjoying nearly three quarters of possession and a huge advantage in shots and touches inside the box.

The result sends a strong statement of intent from Barcelona early in the season, with their attacking trio once again proving decisive, while Valencia will look to regroup quickly after such a heavy home defeat.
