The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has reiterated a ban on the collection of unapproved fees, dues, levies and other payments from national service personnel.

The Association said no district executive, officer or representative acting on behalf of NASPA is authorised to impose or collect such payments from national service personnel.

It has also cautioned district executives against making the payment of dues or other contributions a condition for accessing NASPA activities, services or endorsement of documents.

“NASPA National hereby reiterates that no District NASPA Executive, officer, representative or person acting on behalf of NASPA is authorized to impose, demand or collect dues, welfare contributions, levies or any other payment directly from National Service Personnel,” the Association said in a circular dated Monday, August 17.

NASPA said districts may only collect dues or other monies from national service personnel where such collection has been expressly approved and officially communicated by the national leadership in accordance with the procedures of the National Service Authority.

The Association directed all regional executives to immediately bring the circular to the attention of district executives within their respective regions and ensure strict compliance.

It further cautioned that any district executive or officer found engaging in the unauthorised collection of monies from national service personnel would be reported to the appropriate authorities for the necessary action.

NASPA said the directive is consistent with the position of the National Service Authority and was intended to promote transparency, accountability and the welfare of national service personnel.

The Association urged all regional and district executives to comply with the directive and refrain from imposing any unauthorised financial obligations on national service personnel.
