Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma , have successfully eliminated a terrorist during a dawn offensive operation in the Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State . The early Friday morning raid, which targeted a criminal hideout in the Yantumaki Forest , also led to the recovery of four operational motorcycles, a mobile phone, and five empty intravenous drip containers suspected to be used for treating wounded insurgents.

The details of the successful encounter were made public on Saturday by the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja . According to his statement issued from the operational headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, the military acted swiftly on credible intelligence indicating a strong terrorist presence within the forest axis.

Upon invading the area, the gallant troops engaged the bandits with maximum firepower . The overwhelming military response forced the surviving members of the criminal gang to abandon their positions and flee into the surrounding bushes . Lt. Col. Danja reiterated that this operation demonstrates the military’s unwavering commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist networks and completely denying them freedom of action across the region.

“Troops engaged the terrorists with maximum firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes.

“During exploitation of the area, troops confirmed the neutralisation of one terrorist and recovered four motorcycles, one mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers, suspected to have been used in the treatment of wounded terrorists.”

Danja said the successful operation further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation Fansan Yamma to sustain pressure on terrorist networks, degrade their operational capabilities and deny them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.

“OPFY urges the general to continue to support security agencies with relevant information to enable the theatre to eradicate terrorists elements within the Joint Operations Area,” the statement further reads.
