Tottenham Seal £75m Move for City Winger Savinho
Tottenham Hotspur have struck an agreement with Manchester City to bring Brazilian winger Savinho to north London in a deal worth £75 million, with a further £10 million possible through performance-related add-ons.
The 22-year-old is set to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on what’s expected to be a long-term deal at the club.
According to BBC Sport, this transfer represents the payoff of more than a year of persistent Spurs interest, after an earlier attempt to land the winger last summer fell through.
Savinho opted to stay at the Etihad at the time, though his game time shrank considerably last season, limited to just seven Premier League starts.
The signing continues a summer of heavy spending under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who has already committed £185 million to bringing in midfield reinforcements Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle.
Adding Savinho pushes Tottenham’s total outlay past £300 million this window, though sales of Cristian Romero, Djed Spence, and Luka Vuskovic have brought roughly £140 million back into the club’s coffers.
Spurs’ business isn’t finished yet talks are reportedly advancing for another City player, forward Omar Marmoush, who has fallen out of favor at the Etihad since his £59 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt last year.
A separate interest in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo also remains alive, though funding all three deals could prove difficult.
Tottenham open their league season at Brentford on Saturday, while City host Bournemouth on Sunday.
