Tottenham Receive Formal Bid As Inter Push To Sign Djed Spence
Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence is reportedly edging closer to a move to Italian giants Inter Milan, with the Serie A club stepping up efforts to secure his services before the transfer window closes.
Inter have reportedly submitted an opening offer worth more than €30 million for the England international. The proposal is understood to be part of the Italian club’s plans to strengthen its defensive options ahead of the new season.
Spence has also reportedly given the green light to a move to Milan after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Inter.
The development puts the Nerazzurri in a strong position as negotiations between the two clubs continue.
However, Tottenham are believed to be looking for a higher fee before agreeing to the transfer. Reports indicate that the Premier League club could demand around €35 million, along with additional performance-related bonuses.
The 25-year-old has faced increased competition for playing time at Tottenham following the club’s defensive recruitment this summer.
The arrivals of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, combined with Pedro Porro’s new contract, could make it increasingly difficult for Spence to secure a regular starting position.
A move to Inter could therefore provide the defender with an opportunity to revive his career in Italy. Spence previously gained experience in Italian football during a loan spell with Genoa.
With personal terms reportedly settled, attention now turns to whether Tottenham and Inter can reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
If negotiations progress smoothly, Spence could soon begin another chapter of his career in Serie A.
