Toke Makinwa Threatens Legal Action Against Digital Travel Company Over Fraudulent Listing

By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has publicly called out digital travel company Booking.com over what she described as a fraudulent apartment listing on the platform.

In a series of posts on her Instagram story, she expressed frustration over the company’s lack of customer service and failure to resolve her issue.

Makinwa stated that she had privately messaged the company and sent countless emails, but received only unsatisfactory responses. She threatened to take the matter public and involve her lawyers if she does not receive a full refund and compensation.

She further warned other users against booking with the platform, citing safety concerns as a Genius Level 3 account holder.

She wrote:
“I think I have been patient enough with the lack of customer service and rubbish responses you’ve given to my issue of a fraudulent apartment that was listed on your site. If I do not get my refund and a full compensation on this traumatic experience I will be taking this public and getting my lawyers involved. I have messaged you privately, sent countless emails but you seem to be sending me on a goose chase and I’ve had enough.”

“First to start with, if you cannot guarantee that a property is legit and the company is real why list it on your site? @bookingcom A lot of people have shared their experience with me and I cannot believe how chaotic your organization has become. Do the needful.”

“I am a genius level 3 account holder and even that doesn’t guarantee my safety while booking on @bookingcom Do not book anymore with them for the safety of your money/peace of mind.”
