Three men have been remanded by the Obuasi Circuit Court over an alleged violent attack and unlawful destruction of property at the Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHS).

The court has adjourned the case to August 17, 2026.

The accused persons—Kwasi Brefo, alias Allah; Appiah Arthur Joseph, also known as Nana Appiah; and Desmond Owusu—are facing charges of abetment of crime in connection with the alleged assault and destruction of property.

The prosecution told the court that the three allegedly aided other suspects, who are currently at large, to attack Abdul Zakari with cutlasses and sticks, resulting in injuries to the victim.

They are also accused of assisting in the destruction of property during the incident.

The alleged attack took place on August 5, 2026, amid tensions at the Obuasi SHS campus. The unrest reportedly followed allegations by some students that the headmaster was involved in ritual activities, as well as claims concerning inappropriate relationships with female students.

The three accused persons have been remanded into custody and are expected to reappear before the court on August 17.
