Support for my second-term bid is a vote of confidence – Justin Kodua on NPP General Secretary race

TUE, 25 AUG 2026

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has thanked the rank and file of the party for the support and solidarity shown during the filing of his nomination to seek a second term.

He said the support demonstrated by party members represents a strong vote of confidence in his leadership and his efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.

Kodua Frimpong made the remarks in a message of appreciation issued on Tuesday, August 25, a day after he filed his nomination at the NPP headquarters in Accra.

“The overwhelming support demonstrated yesterday represents more than an endorsement of an individual aspiration. It is a powerful affirmation of the trust and confidence reposed in our collective mission to revitalise the Party’s grassroots, strengthen its structures, deepen unity across all levels, and reposition the NPP as a formidable political force capable of recapturing power,” he said.

The incumbent General Secretary expressed gratitude to party executives, delegates, grassroots activists, supporters and other stakeholders who travelled from various parts of the country to support his nomination.

He also acknowledged the media fraternity and well-wishers for their encouragement and continued support.

Kodua said his second-term bid would focus on service, accessibility, unity, discipline and grassroots empowerment.

He said the NPP must reconnect with its grassroots base, rebuild confidence among its members and prepare comprehensively for the 2028 general elections.

Following the filing of his nomination, the NPP chief scribe pledged to work to ensure the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, wins the 2028 presidential election if he is re-elected as General Secretary.

He said returning the NPP to power would remain a key priority of his second-term bid.

The General Secretary is facing competition from three other party members, Eugene Boakye Antwi, Sylvester Tetteh and Charles Dwamena.
