STOP THE BLAME GAME: Own Your Life

“Blame is the rent you pay to stay in the house of failure.”- Abundant Robert K. AWOLUGUTU

Let’s examine this scenario together: Two young men in Navrongo. Same economy. Same challenges. Same government.

The first man spends his day on WhatsApp blaming politicians, the system, and ‘connections.’ The second man takes the bull by the horns. He spends his day learning a skill, making calls, and starting a small business.

Five years later, one is still blaming: his family, location, the government, the stars, the system. The other has become a successful entrepreneur employing people.

You and I know the difference was not opportunity. The difference was ownership. One had a defeatist mentality. The other had a growth mindset. Guess who is the winner?

So here’s the question: Are you spending your energy finding fault, or finding solutions?

What Wayne Dyer Was Really Saying

Blame is passive: It does you no good. It gives your power away to someone else.

Blame doesn’t change you: You don’t fix yourself when you’re blaming others. Take responsibility for your life and future.

Blame is a comfort zone: It’s easier to point fingers than to step outside your comfort zone to reach your dreams.

Ownership is freedom: The moment you stop blaming, you start building. You start creating. Discipline takes over. And you start flying with your vision.

You can’t have hands out of your pockets if your fingers are busy pointing. You can’t build with fingers pointing at the innocent.

The 4 Favourite Things We Blame
Government: “No jobs. Bad roads. Corruption. Cronyism. Favouritism.” Government matters, but it’s not your excuse. Wake up and chase your dream, whatever it may be.

Family Background: “I was born into poverty. Household enemies are blocking me. No connections.” The past is gone. It explains you. It does not excuse you.

Other People: “My rich uncle won’t help. My boss isn’t helpful. My teacher. My friend. Nepotism.” You can’t control them. They don’t owe you. Sit up. Stop the blame game.

Circumstances: “The economy. Dumsor. The dollar rate” Every generation had problems. Yet winners still emerged.

Where Ghana Needs To Stop Blaming

Youth: Stop the “no jobs” syndrome. Create one. Learn a skill. Use your God-given gifts to serve. Start a business. Start on your phone. Hustle with both hands.

Business Owners: Stop blaming customers, taxes, competition. Be innovative. Improve your product. The customer is king. Serve better.

Politicians: Stop blaming your predecessors. You were elected to fix it. Put your shoulders to the wheel and work hard. Both hands on the job.

Communities: Don’t blame local authorities for choked gutters. Don’t litter. Desilt and rebuild. Don’t build in waterways.

Personal Life: Stop blaming your parents, teachers, exes. Start growing yourself. Heal. Get on with life, no matter what. If you refuse to discipline yourself, life will discipline you in a painful way.

A nation that blames will remain stuck. A nation that owns will always be building.

The Cost of The Blame Game
For the individual: You remain in a rut. Years pass and you’re in the same place, with the same complaints.

For the Family: Children learn to blame when they should be working. The cycle continues.

For the Nation: We become a country of blamers instead of creators. “Talk no dey cook rice.” We talk 24/7 and build nothing.

Spiritual Cost: Blame breeds bitterness. Bitterness kills dreams.

The Way Forward: From Blame To Ownership

Acknowledge: Yes, things are rough. Yes, the business environment may be harsh. Say it once, then move.

Ask 3 questions: “What can I control?” “What can I do today?” “How can I do it better?”

Take 100% Responsibility: For your mind, your finances, your health, and your future. No two ways about it.

Focus on Response, Not Fault: You may not control external happenings. But you control how you respond. You control your thoughts and actions. You can’t control the rain. You can control if you plant.

Replace Blame with Work: Every time you’re tempted to blame, do one productive thing instead.

Connect to the Trilogy: Guard your mind from blame. Leave a mark. Hands out of pockets to build

Blame vs Ownership
Blame: Victim. Waiting. Excuses. Stuck.

Ownership: Creator. Acting. Solutions. Building. Fixing.

“You either own your life, or you rent it from your excuses.”- Abundant Robert K. AWOLUGUTU

Conclusion
Blaming Awolugutu won’t make you rich. Blaming the government won’t build your business. Blaming the past won’t change your future.

The truth is hard but freeing: The only person who can change your life is you.

You were given two hands, one mind, and 24 hours. That’s enough to start. And remember: As one finger points at someone, the rest are pointing back at you.

So today: Stop the blame game.
Take your power back. Own your life. See you at the top.
