The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwanu Disu, has approved a major redeployment of Commissioners of Police across state commands and key formations nationwide in a move aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and advancing ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

The deployment, which received the approval of the Police Service Commission, is expected to bolster leadership across state commands, improve intelligence-driven policing and consolidate efforts to reposition the Force for enhanced service delivery.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the newly posted Commissioners of Police to state commands include CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), CP Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), CP Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), CP Ajo Geofrey Ordue (Cross River), CP Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), CP Patrick Daaor (Edo), CP Tani Murtala (Jigawa) and CP Samuel Erale (Delta).

The reshuffle also affected several strategic departments and formations at the Force Headquarters and other police institutions.

Among the new appointments are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to the Intelligence and Training Department of the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to INTERPOL at the Force Criminal Investigation Department; CP Aina Adesola to the Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Training and Development; and CP Uduak Ita Otu to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID Annex in Lagos.

Others include CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, who was deployed to the General Investigation Department of the FCID in Abuja; CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters; CP Ajayi Oluyemi to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID in Abuja; and CP Bolanle Aremu to the Department of Finance and Administration at Force Headquarters.

The postings further saw CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman assigned to the Inspectorate Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters; CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed as Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; CP Rita Oyintare Oki to the Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos; and CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura to the Administration Department of the FCID Annex in Kaduna.

Also redeployed were CP Nelson Nwamana to the Police Academy, Kano, CP Akingbade C. Adeyinka to the Force Intelligence Department Administration, CP Iya Umar Mohammed to the Department of Training and Development, CP Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu to the Anti-Fraud Unit of the FCID Annex in Kaduna, CP Mohammed Yakubu to the Welfare Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters, and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo to the Administration Department of the FCID Annex in Gombe.

Charging the affected senior officers, Disu urged them to leverage their experience to strengthen intelligence-led policing, improve operational effectiveness, uphold professionalism and deepen community engagement.

He also directed them to remain committed to safeguarding lives and property while maintaining the highest standards of discipline, accountability and service delivery.

The police chief reaffirmed that strategic personnel deployment remains a key component of the Force’s ongoing reform agenda aimed at enhancing internal capacity, improving operational efficiency and delivering more effective policing services across the country.
