Santos Targets Major Silverware After Completing Manchester United Move
New Manchester United midfielder Andrey Santos has outlined his ambitions after sealing a big-money switch from Chelsea, saying his main objective is to help the Red Devils compete for and win the game’s biggest trophies.
The Brazilian completed a transfer worth an initial £48 million, with an additional £2 million in performance-related bonuses.
He has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2031, with the club holding the option to extend the deal by another year.
Speaking after his unveiling, Santos described joining Manchester United as a dream come true, noting that the club’s rich history and legendary former players made the move an easy decision.
He expressed excitement about beginning a new chapter in his career and is eager to build strong relationships with his new teammates.
The 22-year-old also spoke highly of coach Michael Carrick, whom he believes can play a significant role in his development. Santos said he is looking forward to learning from the former England midfielder as he continues to improve his game and fulfil his potential.
Having previously represented Vasco da Gama before moving to Chelsea in 2023, Santos gained valuable experience during loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg.
He later returned to Stamford Bridge and became an important part of Chelsea’s midfield, making 43 appearances during the 2025/26 season as the club enjoyed a successful campaign.
Now settled at Old Trafford, Santos is determined to repay the club’s faith in him by delivering consistent performances and helping Manchester United challenge for domestic and European honours in the seasons ahead.
