Saint Janet Laid To Rest In Abeokuta Amid Tears, Tributes
Veteran Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician Iyun Janet Oluwatoyosi Ajilore, popularly known as Saint Janet, has been laid to rest in Abeokuta, Ogun State, weeks after her sudden death.
The singer was buried on Wednesday at her residence, following a series of funeral activities attended by her children, relatives, colleagues, and admirers.
Veteran Juju singer Gentleman Dele Taiwo and other members of the traditional music community were among those present to pay their last respects.
Videos from the ceremony showed emotional scenes as Saint Janet’s children and mourners gathered around her remains before interment.
Funeral activities began on Tuesday with a candlelight service, a Christian wake, and Artists’ Night at the AIT/Faaji FM compound in Kola Alagbado, Lagos.
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Saint Janet’s death was announced on Sunday, August 2, by publisher and socialite Otunba Femi Davies, who described her as a vibrant performer.
