Rotarian John Odiboh Appointed Official MC, Royal DISCON 2026 and RC Ota 43rd Anniversary

It is now official that the quintessential Master of Ceremony (MC) Rotarian John Odiboh has been appointed the official compere for the 2026 Rotary International District 9111 Conference (DISCON), themed Royal DISCON scheduled for Abeokuta, Ogun State from Thurday May 7th to Sunday May 10th, 2026.
Rotarian Odiboh who is also a Deputy District Secretary (DDS), will be anchoring the two-day plenary sessions on Friday May 8th and Saturday May 9th at the Obasanjo Presidential Library (OPL) will be ably assisted by Rotarian Mike Effiong James, a Rotarian Past President and District Executive Secretary (DES).
In a telephone conversation to disclose the appointment to the accomplished Master of Ceremony, the 2025/2026 District Conference (DISCON) Chairman, Assistant Governor (AG) Dayo Niyi Idowu (DNI) disclosed that the decision to appoint Rotarian John Odiboh for the onerous task of directing the Royal DISCON plenary sessions was his track record at handling high profile events within and outside of Rotary.
It will be recalled that last year, Rotarian Odiboh was co-MC at the 2024/2025 DISCON with the ace MC and Nollywood actor, Rotarian Past President, Yemi Shodimu of the Shaworo Ide fame, a production of Mainframe film production by Tunde Kilani.
In the same instance, Rotarian Odiboh who was Host of the popular Rotary District 9111online interactive programme: DG Speaks in the Magical year 2024/2025, has also been penned down as MC by the Rotary Club of Ota for its
Rotary Foundation Dinner/43rd Anniversary tittled:
“Rotary Legacy Night” at
Merryjay Events Place, Ota, Ogun State on Saturday May 24, 2026.
Rotarian Odiboh is a member of the Prestigious Rotary Club of Akowonjo: The Achievers’ Club. He is a consummate professional communicator: Journalist, Broadcaster, Executive Master of Ceremony, Events Creator, PR Expert, Essayist, Social Critic, Dramatist, Soloist and Percussionist.
Rotarian Odiboh studied Journalism and Mass Communication at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos and Philosophy up to Masters Degree level at the Prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka. He is a winner of several outstanding awards including the Netherland-based, The Voice of Achievers Award as the Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC) and MC for the 14th but pioneer edition of the award in Nigeria at the exquisite Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos in 2025.
