No Ransom, No Concession— Tinubu Declares After Rescue Of Oyo Pupils, Teachers

By Damilare Adeleye

President Bola Tinubu has hailed the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted by suspected Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State, declaring that no ransom was paid and no concession was made to secure their freedom.

The president described the operation as a major victory for Nigeria’s security forces, commending the officers and operatives involved for their courage, discipline and professionalism in ensuring that the victims were rescued alive and unharmed.

In a statement issued on Friday via his official social media handle, Tinubu expressed gratitude over the outcome of the operation, saying the nation had every reason to celebrate.

“Tonight, our nation has reason to give thanks,” the President said.

“The children and teachers abducted by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State have been rescued by our security forces, alive and unharmed. No ransom was paid. No concession was made.”

Tinubu praised the security personnel who carried out the rescue mission, describing their efforts as a testament to the commitment of the nation’s armed forces and security agencies in protecting lives.

“I salute every officer and operative whose courage, discipline, and professionalism made this possible,” he said.

The President also issued a stern warning to terrorist groups and other criminal elements, insisting that his administration would continue to pursue those who threaten the country’s peace and security.

“To those who seek to spread fear through terror, know that the Nigerian state will pursue you relentlessly. We will protect our people, defend our communities, and never relent until peace and security prevail across our country,” Tinubu stated.

The rescue followed weeks of anxiety after the pupils and their teachers were kidnapped in Oyo State, with the successful operation bringing relief to their families and communities. Tinubu’s remarks reinforce the Federal Government’s position against negotiating with terrorists while reaffirming its commitment to combating insecurity across the country.
