Nigerian Police arrest ‘Soldier’ with 81 parcels of cannabis and voodoo charms in Bauchi

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a ‘soldier’ found in possession of eighty-one parcels of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis. 

The suspect, Yusuf Gongpolai Adams, was nabbed by operatives on a routine stop and search along Bauchi-Darazo road. 

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Umar Mamman Sanda, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, February 15, said that the suspect is attached to Nigerian Army 145 Battalion, Abia State. 

“On 06/02/2022 at about 1200hrs, our Safer Highway Patrol along Bauchi-Darazo road, Bauchi State while on routine Stop and Search intercepted a Toyota Highlander vehicle driven by one Yusuf Gongpolai Adams attached to Nigerian Army 145 Battalion, Abia State who is presently on Development course at the Nigerian Army school of Environmental and Science Technology Benue State,” the CP stated. 

“A thorough Search was conducted and eighty-one (81) parcels of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis was found in his possession. During the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.” he added. 

Exhibits recovered from the suspect include 81 parcels of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis, one pair of Army Uniform, two Michelin tires, one Army helmet, one bag containing some cloths and some charms.

Meanwhile investigation is ongoing after which suspect will be handed over to NDLEA.
