The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has successfully dismantled several illicit drug hubs across Kano State during a focused three day enforcement action. This initiative, titled Operation Ramadan Mubarak, resulted in the apprehension of 56 individuals and the discovery of a suspect linked to a long standing homicide investigation.

Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics and Public Relations Officer for the Kano Strategic Command, confirmed the details in a formal statement on Wednesday. He noted that the coordinated raids targeted well known hotspots including Kofar Mata, Fagge, Kasuwar Rimi, Medile, Badawa, and Sabon Gari. The agency expanded its reach to both urban centers and outlying areas to disrupt the networks of criminal organizations that have historically impacted these neighborhoods.

The primary objective of this mission was to dismantle distribution channels and enhance public safety. During the search operations, officers confiscated a variety of controlled substances. The seized inventory included cannabis sativa, Exhol 5, diazepam, and pregabalin, along with various drug related paraphernalia. Officials characterized these seizures as a major disruption to local supply chains.

A notable development during the operation was the arrest of 30 year old Yunusa Yasin in the Badawa area. Yasin is allegedly connected to a homicide case dating back five years. Following his capture, the NDLEA transferred him to police custody for further investigation and potential legal proceedings.

The Kano Strategic Command reaffirmed its dedication to creating a drug free environment, echoing the national priorities established by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, retired Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa. The agency emphasized that it will maintain its momentum through targeted raids and community engagement to safeguard public health. Authorities continue to encourage citizens to share information regarding illicit activities to help maintain security throughout the region.
