My Job Is to Score Goals for Ajax – Tolu Arokodare

By Okiki Oluwasegun

Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has outlined his ambitions following his move to Dutch giants Ajax, insisting he is determined to deliver goals and help the club compete for major honours once again.

The Nigerian forward recently joined the Eredivisie side on a season-long loan from Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers and has wasted little time making an impression.

He announced himself with a goal during a pre-season outing, raising expectations ahead of the new campaign.

Speaking after settling into his new surroundings, Arokodare expressed satisfaction with the warm reception he has received from his teammates and coaching staff.

He described the atmosphere within the squad as positive and said everyone is fully committed to restoring Ajax to the top of Dutch football after a difficult previous season.

The 25-year-old believes the club possesses the mentality needed to challenge for trophies and says that winning remains the driving force behind every training session and match preparation.

As a centre-forward, Arokodare made it clear that scoring goals remains his primary responsibility. However, he stressed that his contribution goes beyond finding the back of the net, explaining that he is equally committed to pressing defenders, creating space for teammates and working tirelessly for the team’s success.

The former Genk striker is confident that individual achievements will naturally follow if the collective objectives are achieved.

His determination and work ethic have already impressed supporters, who hope he can become a key figure in Ajax’s attacking lineup this season.

With the Eredivisie campaign fast approaching, Ajax will be counting on Arokodare to maintain his encouraging pre-season form.

The club will be aiming to reclaim domestic glory, while the Nigerian international sees the move as another opportunity to prove himself at one of Europe’s most historic football institutions and strengthen his place in the Super Eagles squad.
