MC Mbakara explains why he skipped Peller and Jarvis wedding ceremony

MON, 03 AUG 2026

Content creator MC Mbakara has opened up about why he chose not to attend the wedding ceremony of popular TikTok stars Peller and Jarvis, saying he felt some of the event’s requirements were disrespectful to him.

Speaking about his decision, MC Mbakara explained that one of the main reasons he stayed away was the expectation that invited guests should purchase the official ‘aso ebi’ before receiving an invitation.

According to him, as an elder and a chief, he found the requirement inappropriate.

“First, I’m a senior man. You can’t tell me to buy aso ebi. At my age, a chief. To me, that’s disrespectful,” he said.

He further revealed that he was informed that guests who did not purchase the ‘aso ebi’ would also have to pay separately to obtain an invitation card (IV), a condition he strongly disagreed with.

MC Mbakara argued that wedding invitations should not be tied to compulsory financial contributions, especially for people who may already intend to support the couple in their own way.

He noted that he could have chosen to bless the newlyweds with a generous cash gift of $5,000, but felt it was unreasonable to make the purchase of ‘aso ebi’ a prerequisite for being invited.

“I could decide to give you $5,000 on your wedding day, but saying I must buy the aso ebi before I can get an invitation doesn’t make sense,” he stated.
