A man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating the Executive Secretary to President John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Callistus Mahama, and promising to secure government appointments in exchange for money.

The arrest follows investigations into the suspect’s activities after he was accused of falsely presenting himself as acting on behalf of the Presidency to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

Announcing the development in a social media post on Friday, July 3, Dr. Mahama cautioned Ghanaians against paying money to anyone claiming to facilitate appointments through his office.

“For some time now, an individual has been impersonating Dr. Callistus Mahama, falsely promising to secure appointments in exchange for payment. Following investigations, he has now been arrested,” he wrote.

The Executive Secretary stressed that government appointments are not secured through payments and noted that anyone making such demands while claiming to represent him or his office is a fraudster.

“This should serve as a reminder to the public: no one is required to pay money to obtain an appointment. Anyone who demands payment while claiming to act on our behalf is a fraudster,” he stated.

Dr. Mahama further urged the public to remain vigilant, verify any suspicious requests through official channels and report anyone engaging in similar fraudulent activities to the appropriate authorities to avoid falling victim to such scams.
