Highlife Stars Storm Barcelona for Global ‘H2TW – Black Star Experience 2027’ Launch

Some of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians will take over Barcelona, Spain, on August 2, 2026, for a major concert to launch the Highlife to the World (H2TW) – Black Star Experience 2027 global campaign.
The concert, scheduled for the SeaSeaClub, precedes the worldwide rollout of the campaign, which officially begins in March 2027 as part of activities marking Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary.
Artistes billed for the event include Stonebwoy, Amandzeba Nat Brew, Obrafour, Bessa Simons, Jupitar and others. The DJ lineup will feature some of Ghana’s finest talents in Europe—DJ Logs, DJ Demo, DJ Enoch, DJ King Solo—with a guest appearance by Spain‑based Nigerian DJ Enny.
In December 2025, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially inscribed Highlife on its Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The global recognition was widely celebrated as a historic milestone, and the H2TW campaign aims to promote and preserve Highlife music and dance for future generations.
The Barcelona launch is being organised by the Ghana Embassy in Madrid, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Showbiz Africa and the BlackStar Experience. The concert will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Ghana delegation will be hosted by H.E. Kalsoume Sinare Baffour, Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain. It will include Bessa Simons (President, MUSIGA), Madam Maame Efua Houadjeto (CEO, Ghana Tourism Authority) and Rex Omar (BlackStar Experience Coordinator).
Other officials expected are Gideon Nee Aryeequaye (Executive Secretary, Creative Arts Agency), Verus Nartey (CEO, Showbiz Africa & Made in Ghana Consulting Ltd) and Eric Acquah (CEO, Benayacon Entertainment).
According to the MUSIGA President, Highlife—through its many stylistic variations—has inspired numerous genres worldwide, making it essential to highlight its cultural significance on the global stage.
The Barcelona event is being organised in partnership with Benayacon Entertainment, the National Folklore Board, Ghana Tourism Authority and the Creative Arts Agency, with support from the Spanish Embassy in Ghana and the UNESCO Office in Ghana.
