The immediate past Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela , has been thrown into mourning after losing two of his children, Mustapha and Ummi , in a fatal motor accident on Saturday. The siblings tragically died on the spot when their vehicle crashed along the Bauchi–Azare highway while they were returning to Bauchi from Azare town. Following the incident, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed profound shock and sadness, describing the sudden loss of the two young lives as a devastating blow and a painful tragedy that has cast a shadow of grief over the entire state.
The tragic crash along the Bauchi-Azare road resulted in the immediate deaths of Senator Baba Tela’s children, Mustapha and Ummi, while other occupants who sustained injuries were rushed for medical treatment. Following the incident, the bodies of the deceased siblings were conveyed to a hospital in Bauchi, where medical professionals officially confirmed their passing.
A large and solemn funeral prayer was later held at the Bauchi Emir’s Palace, drawing hundreds of Muslim faithful, sympathisers, and well-wishers who gathered to pay their final respects. Following the prayers, the siblings were laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed expressed profound shock and sadness over the fatal crash . The governor stated that the tragic loss of the two young siblings, Mustapha and Ummi, is not only an unimaginably devastating blow to their father, Senator Baba Tela, and his immediate family, but it is also a painful loss felt by the entire populace of Bauchi State. He called upon all residents of the state to unite in prayer for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and for divine comfort to be granted to the grieving family during this dark period.
Governor Mohammed urged the bereaved family to anchor their hearts in faith and take solace in the absolute will of Almighty Allah, reminding them that every soul must eventually return to its Creator at its appointed time. He offered his heartfelt prayers that Allah forgives the shortcomings of the deceased, grants them eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and endows their parents and loved ones with the supernatural strength, patience, and fortitude required to endure such an irreplaceable loss. Furthermore, the governor extended his deep sympathies to the other passengers who were hurt in the auto crash, offering prayers for their full and speedy recovery.
