FIFA has announced a major addition to its post-tournament honours, confirming that the champions of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive exclusive championship rings alongside the iconic World Cup trophy and traditional gold medals.

The initiative will be introduced for the first time following the World Cup final scheduled for July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium.

The move brings a concept long associated with North American sports into football’s biggest competition, creating another historic milestone for the tournament.

According to FIFA, the rings have been specially designed as part of a commemorative collection celebrating the 2026 World Cup.

A total of 2,026 rings will be produced, with only 30 reserved for members of the victorious national team. The remaining rings will be released as officially licensed collector’s items for football supporters across the globe.

Each championship ring will feature the famous FIFA World Cup Trophy engraved on one side, while the opposite side will showcase the identity of the winning nation.

Every piece will carry its own unique serial number, be custom-sized for its recipient, and include an official certificate verifying its authenticity.

FIFA also revealed that the presentation process will occur in two stages. Shortly after the final whistle, the team captain and head coach will each receive temporary rings during the on-field trophy celebrations.

The complete set of permanent rings will then be individually crafted to fit each recipient before being handed over during a separate presentation ceremony.

The introduction of championship rings reflects FIFA’s effort to provide players with a lasting personal reminder of their World Cup success while giving fans a new collectible linked to football’s most prestigious tournament.

The innovation is expected to become one of the standout traditions of the 2026 edition and could remain a feature of future FIFA competitions if well received.
