FC Samartex GM challenges GFA Club Licensing chairman over club sanctions claims

FC Samartex General Manager Edmund Ackah has criticised Ghana Football Association (GFA) Club Licensing Committee chairman Dr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh over claims that no club met the licensing requirements in the past two seasons.

Dr Baah-Nuakoh recently said only Asante Kotoko had fully complied with the club licensing regulations ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

But Ackah has rejected the assertion, insisting FC Samartex has not been sanctioned and has not received any official communication from the GFA informing the club of a breach.

“I am surprised by the claims made by the Club Licensing Chairman [Dr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh]. I think it is wrong for him to say that no club met the Club Licensing requirements,” Ackah said.

“I haven’t received any sanction. No letter was sent to my club informing us that we had been sanctioned.

“So, what kind of sanction was imposed on us without our knowledge?”

Ackah also challenged the committee chairman to provide evidence of where FC Samartex or any other club had failed to meet the licensing requirements.

“It is hypocrisy for him to go on that path, and I challenge him to prove where any club or even FC Samartex failed to meet the requirements,” he added.

“There are ways to address such issues, and if he does not know, the clubs are not happy with his decision to always address issues on the radio.”

The Club Licensing Committee has approved 14 of the 18 proposed venues for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

The new campaign is scheduled to begin on 5 September.
